Draymond Green scored a career-high 34 points to help visiting Michigan State win a 74-67 showdown against No. 22 Gonzaga on Saturday.

Green made 11-of-13 shots and surpassed his former high output of 26 points as the Spartans (8-2) won their eighth straight game.

David Stockton scored 19 points and Robert Sacre had 16 points for Gonzaga (5-2), which fell to 92-7 since moving into the McCarthey Athletic Center in 2004.

The loss was Gonzaga’s second straight - both coming to Big Ten programs. The Zags lost at Illinois seven days earlier.

Michigan State looked on its way to an easy victory when Derrick Nix scored back-to-back baskets to give the Spartans a 59-45 lead with 8:24 to play before Stockton hit two 3-pointers while scoring eight consecutive Gonzaga points to cut the Michigan State advantage to 62-56 with 4:10 remaining.

Green answered with a 3-pointer one minute later and the Spartans held off the Zags.

Gonzaga led 38-37 early in the second half before Green hit 3-point baskets to start and end a 14-3 run. Green had 10 points during the spurt as the Spartans took a 51-41 lead with 13:48 remaining.

Green had 14 first-half points as Michigan State led 35-34 at intermission. Gonzaga’s Gary Bell scored 11 of his 13 points in the opening half.
