Dylan Talley hit the go-ahead jumper with nine seconds remaining as Nebraska escaped with a 51-50 victory over visiting Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday.

Talley scored a team-high 14 points off the bench and Brandon Ubel posted his first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds for the Huskers (5-3), who ended a two-game losing streak.

With the Eagles leading 50-49 following a long 3-pointer by Christophe Varidel with 1:23 remaining, Nebraska forced a missed jumper by Florida Gulf Coast on its next possession. Following a timeout and with the shot clock winding down, Talley drained a medium-range jumper to give the Huskers a 51-50 lead.

The Eagles, who have already lost three games by one point, called their own timeout with four seconds left to set themselves up for a potential game-winner, but were unable to get up a shot before the buzzer.

Nebraska, which improved 65-9 when it allows less than 60 points under coach Doc Sadler, survived mostly on the strength of the defense that held the Eagles scoreless over the final 5:59 of the first half and four points over a 13:12 stretch that carried over into the second half.

Sherwood Brown led Florida Gulf Coast with 14 points.
