Chris Allen scored a game-high 23 points to lead Iowa State to a 90-82 victory over visiting Northern Colorado on Tuesday.

Allen, a senior transfer from Michigan State, accounted for four of the Cyclones’ 16 3-point field goals.

Iowa State (3-1), which led the Big 12 in 3-pointers last season, took a 52-39 lead into halftime and led by as many as 16.

Northern Colorado, though, cut the lead to single digits and closed within 85-79 on Emmanuel Addo’s layup with 3:12 left to play.

However, Iowa State extended the lead to nine on the ensuing possession when Allen converted three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt.

Royce White had 10 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Cyclones, who improved to 3-0 at home and scored 90 or more for the second straight game.

Melvin Ejim added 12 points and seven rebounds for Iowa State.

Tim Huskisson had 16 points and five rebounds, and Addo and Paul Garnica scored 15 apiece for the Bears, who shot 49 percent from the floor and made 10-of-23 attempts from 3-point range.

Northern Colorado (0-4) remains the only winless team in the Big Sky conference.
