Erratic forward Reeves Nelson scored only one point in his return to the UCLA lineup but the Bruins went on a shooting spree in the second half to hammer Chaminade 92-60 in the Maui Invitational on Monday.

Nelson returned to the team after a one-game suspension for disciplinary reasons but was benched for the first half of the game for missing the team plane to Hawaii. He entered the game with UCLA holding a 48-43 lead with 16 minutes to play and the Bruins immediately responded with a lengthy run to win their first game of the season.

UCLA, which started the season 0-2 for the first time since the 2002 season, got double-figures from five different players in the game. Lazeric Jones led the way with 19 points and Jerime Anderson had 18.

Giant-killer Chaminade (3-1) trailed only 40-38 at the half but shot poorly throughout the second half and had no answers for UCLA’s interior game. The Silverswords, who are 6-74 all-time in the tournament but did post a memorable win in 1982 when it beat No. 1 ranked Virginia featuring Ralph Sampson, were led by Lee Bailey with 16 points.

UCLA will meet Kansas in Tuesday's semfinals while Chaminade will meet Georgetown in the losers' bracket.
