Bradford Burgess scored 25 points to lead Virginia Commonwealth to an impressive 90-69 rout of struggling Wake Forest Tuesday in preseason NIT action in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The experienced VCU Rams (3-0), who return all five starters, took advantage of 23 Wake Forest turnovers and broke open a close game in the second half. In contrast, VCU turned it over only seven times. Brandon Rozzell came off the bench to add 18, and Joey Rodriguez chipped in with 17 points. and six assists for the Rams.

Wake Forest falls to 1-2, with losses to VCU and Stetson. Ari Stewart led the Demon Deacons with 18 points, and J.T. Terrell added 14.

The Rams advance to the semifinal round of the tournament in Madison Square Garden.
