Cashmere Wright led a balanced effort with 15 points and Yancy Gates added 11 points and 11 rebounds as Cincinnati held on for a 67-60 victory at Marquette on Wednesday night.

The Bearcats (23-7, 10-7 Big East) took control of a back-and-forth affair by scoring nine unanswered points, seizing a 48-38 lead with 12:32 remaining. Marquette got no closer than five the rest of the way despite a game-high 30 points from senior Jimmy Butler.

Dion Dixon and Ibrahima Thomas added 12 points apiece for Cincinnati, which shot 50 percent (28 of 56) from the floor and outscored the Golden Eagles in the paint, 34-22.

Darius Johnson-Odom finished with 15 points for Marquette (18-12, 9-8), which hit just 3 of 15 shots from 3-point range. Butler made 15-of-17 foul shots, but the rest of the Golden Eagles combined to make just 4 of 9 from the line.
