Maurice Jones scored 22 points, all in the second half, and visiting USC toppled California 78-75 on Thursday.

Nikola Vucevic (21 points, 10 rebounds) and Alex Stepheson (10 points, 11 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles for USC (14-12, 6-7 Pac-10).

After starting the first 25 games of his career, Jones came off the bench to make 5 of 6 from 3-point range, including three straight midway through the final period.

Markhuri Sanders-Frison scored a career-high 23 points and had 11 rebounds for California (13-13, 6-8), which has lost four straight. Harper Kamp had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Jorge Gutierrez added 13 points. Brandon Smith and Jeff Powers had 10 points apiece.

Cal trailed 33-22 at the half after shooting 24 percent from the field.

USC led by 12 with two minutes left before Sanders-Frison scored 10 straight points in the final 46 seconds to bring California within one before two Vucevic free throws finished the scoring.

The Bears played without freshman guard Allen Crabbe, who missed his second full game because of a concussion.
