Alabama built a 23-point lead and held off Mississippi’s late rally to defeat the Rebels 74-64 at home on Saturday.

Tony Mitchell scored 20 points off the bench for the Crimson Tide (16-8, 8-2 SEC).

Chris Warren scored 15 points for the Rebels (16-9, 4-6 SEC), who saw their three-game winning streak ended.

The Crimson Tide took control in the final 12 minutes of the first half and used a 17-6 run to open a 35-19 advantage on Charvez Davis’ 3-pointer with 5:32 left in the half.

Mitchell’s jumper with 19 seconds left sent Alabama into halftime ahead 47-27.

The Rebels clawed their way back into the game with a 15-1 run and pulled within 56-47 on Dundrecous Nelson’s 3-pointer with 10:50 remaining.

Two Warren free throws made it 65-59 with 2:21 left, but Senario Hillman’s three-point play six seconds later put the Crimson Tide back in command.

Alabama, atop the SEC West, hadn’t lost since Jan. 15 at Arkansas until Thursday’s 81-77 defeat at Vanderbilt.
