Ben Hansbrough led the way with 25 points and Tim Abromaitis scored 23 points as No. 7 Notre Dame earned an 89-79 overtime victory over No. 15 Louisville on Wednesday in South Bend, Ind.

Carleton Scott added 16 points for the Fighting Irish (20-4, 9-3 Big East), who won their sixth straight to pull within 1 ½ games of No. 4 Pittsburgh for first place in the Big East.

Kyle Kuric scored 28 for the Cardinals (18-6, 7-4), who were outscored 15-5 in overtime.

Notre Dame scored the first 10 points in overtime, getting nine from Scott to make it look easy.

Louisville shot 56 percent (18 of 32) in the first half to take a 44-40 lead at the break. Kuric knocked down three of the Cardinals’ five 3-pointers in the first half and scored the final five points to put them on top.

The Irish quickly made up that deficit, scoring the first seven points out of the break. It went back and forth from there, with Notre Dame tying it at 74-74 on Tyrone Nash’s free throws with 1:02 left to force overtime.
