Billy White scored 19 points and No. 6 San Diego State persevered despite a shaky effort to record a 60-53 victory over visiting TCU on Saturday.

Malcolm Thomas added 11 points and 12 rebounds as the Aztecs (23-1, 8-1) remained tied for first in the Mountain West Conference with Brigham Young.

Hank Thorns had 16 points and eight assists for TCU (10-14, 1-8).

San Diego State notched its 16th consecutive home victory, but it wasn't smooth. The Aztecs shot 36.4 percent from the field and never held a double-digit lead until White’s basket with 9:25 remaining made it 42-31.

TCU didn’t go away, and pulled within 56-51 on a 3-point basket by Thorns with 1:07 left before San Diego State held on.

White made 5 of 7 shots and was 9 of 10 from the free-throw line.

Greg Hill added 12 points for TCU.

San Diego State star Kawhi Leonard had just 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting. Leonard also had eight rebounds.

The Horned Frogs were playing without leading scorer Ronnie Moss, who was recently suspended indefinitely for detrimental conduct.
