David Lighty scored 17 points to pace a balanced attack as top-ranked Ohio State remained unbeaten Wednesday night, cruising to a 70-48 victory over visiting Iowa.

Fresh off a return to the No. 1 spot for the first time since 2006-07, the Buckeyes (18-0, 6-0 Big Ten) broke out to a 40-23 halftime lead and waltzed through the second half en route to their largest conference victory of the season. Lighty helped pad the enormous first-half advantage, hitting a 3-pointer and converting a three-point play in a three-minute span to put Ohio State up by double digits.

William Buford had 15 points while team scoring leader Jared Sullinger added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Buckeyes, who won despite shooting just 28.6 percent (6-for-21) from beyond the arc.

Andrew Brommer had 12 points in a reserve role to lead the Hawkeyes (7-11, 0-6 Big Ten), who haven't won since Dec. 21. Iowa shot just 40 percent from the field while making only one of seven 3-point attempts.

Melsahn Basabe led Iowa's starters with 11 points while Bryce Cartwright added 10 points and a game-high seven assists.
