Jordan Hamilton scored 21 points to lead No. 22 Texas over No. 12 Michigan State 67-55 in a non-conference game Wednesday at East Lansing, Mich.

Kalin Lucas scored a team-high 17 points for the Spartans (9-3), who shot just 28 percent for the game.

Texas is the first non-conference team to win at Michigan State since Duke beat the Spartans in 2003. Michigan State had won 52 straight games against non-conference foes on their home court.

Tristan Thompson added 17 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for the Longhorns (10-2).

Texas led virtually the entire way. It opened up a 28-19 lead late in the first half before the Spartans rallied to cut the deficit to 31-30 at the half.

In the second half, Texas built a 15-point lead capped by a 3-pointer by Cory Joseph with 13 minutes to play. Michigan State never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.
