Jimmer Fredette scored 20 of his 28 points in the second half, and No. 23 BYU bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 72-66 win over host Weber State on Tuesday.

Weber State trailed by 12 at halftime, but made a series of runs to come within four with 12 seconds left. Fredette, who finished 10-of-24 from the field, made two free throws to secure the win.

BYU’s Chris Collinsworth and Brandon Davies had 11 and 10 points, respectively. Davies led the Cougars with 10 rebounds.

The Cougars (11-1) led by as many as 17 points in the first half, but Weber State’s Lindsey Hughey heated up to get the Wildcats back in the game.

Hughey finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, and Scott Bamforth scored 17 for Weber State (6-5), which played without leading scorer Damian Lillard.

Lillard is out for the season after fracturing his foot against Tulsa on Dec. 16. Lillard, last season's Big Sky Player of the Year, was averaging 21.5 points per game.

BYU, which lost its first game of the season Saturday at UCLA 86-79, shot 25 for 71 (35.2 percent) from the field against Weber State.

Kyle Bullinger had 10 points and 12 rebounds, and Trevor Morris added eight points and four rebounds for Weber State, which had won four of its last five games.
