Clemson posted a lackluster 71-61 victory over winless North Carolina-Greensboro Sunday.
The host Tigers (7-4) squandered most of its 21-point halftime lead but did enough to hold off the struggling Spartans (0-10).
UNC-Greensboro got hot in the second half and cut the deficit down to two, 49-47, on a Trevis Simpson 3-pointer with 8:23 to play. But Clemson answered the Spartan surge with an 11-2 spurt and maintained a double-digit lead for the game's final five minutes.
Andre Young led Clemson with 22 points, and Jerai Grant came off the bench to add 19.
Korey Van Dussen had 20 for UNC-Greensboro, and Simpson came off the bench to add 16.
The Spartans (0-10) are off to their worst start in school history and fall to 1-40 all-time against ACC teams.
Clemson played without leading scorer Demontez Stitt, who had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and is expected to miss at least another week.
Clemson travels to College of Charleston Wednesday, before returning for a five-game homestand, including back-to-back ACC contests against Miami and Georgia Tech in early January.
