Cory Joseph and Jordan Hamilton each scored 16 points, leading a balanced effort as No. 20 Texas pulled away for a 76-55 victory over Lamar on Wednesday night in Austin, Texas.

Tristan Thompson added 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Longhorns (6-1), who won handily despite committing 23 turnovers. The Longhorns' suffocating defensive effort held Lamar to 18-of-70 shooting (25.7 percent) from the field and forced 21 giveaways.

The Cardinals (4-3) were within striking distance at the half, 34-25, but a 3-pointer from Joseph started a 12-0 Texas run early in the second period, stretching the margin to 48-27 with 17:24 to go. Lamar got no closer than 12 the rest of the way.

Kendrick Harris paced the Cardinals with 13 points in defeat, but his 3-of-12 shooting effort was emblematic of Lamar's struggles.
