Eleven players scored for Auburn, as the Tigers broke open a close game in the second half to pull away for a 78-50 home victory against NCAA Division II Georgia Southwestern on Tuesday.

Considering the Tigers already have lost to the likes of UNC-Asheville, Samford, Campbell and Jacksonville this season, the apparent mismatch was anything but a sure victory, and it showed in the first half. The Tigers (2-4) led just 32-26 at halftime before pulling away.

Andre Malone led Auburn with 17 points, and Rob Chubb added 12. The Tigers shot 51.7 percent from the field despite struggling from 3-point range. They were 2-for-10 from behind the arc.

Trayce Macon led the Hurricanes with 15 points. Phillip Brown added 14, and Talmadge Bell had 10. Georgia Southwestern (3-2) shot 38.1 percent (8-for-21) from 3-point range, but just 32.7 percent overall.

Auburn plays its seventh consecutive home game to start the season Sunday against Arkansas-Pine Bluff before road games at Rutgers and South Florida.
