Mike Singletary scored 29 points and Robert Lewandowski added 17 as Texas Tech held off Oral Roberts 86-82 Tuesday.

John Roberson finished with 16 points and hit four free throws with less than 20 seconds to play to seal it for the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech (5-3) held a 39-38 margin at the break and the teams traded leads in the second half. The Golden Eagles cut it to 81-78 when Roderick Pearson hit a 3-pointer with 37 seconds left and were within 82-80 after Warren Niles converted a layup with 22.1 seconds remaining.

Oral Roberts (2-3) has made noise as a mid-major team before, advancing to the NCAA Tournament out of the Summit League and occasionally putting together a resume that might even get it consideration as an at-large team. That is clearly what the thought process was when designing this season’s schedule, as the Golden Eagles play 14 of their first 18 games on the road, including a stretch of nine in a row that began with a win at Utah on Saturday.

The Red Raiders will spend the season fighting for a spot at the table in a rapidly improving Big 12 Conference that has five teams ranked in the top 20.
