Scoop Jardine carried his Syracuse teammates through a rocky start, scoring 27 points to lead the Orange to a 66-55 win over Detroit on Tuesday evening at the Carrier Dome.

Jardine added eight assists and five steals in the victory, while Rick Jackson finished with 10 points and 22 rebounds.

A 3-pointer by Ray McCallum with 11:19 left before halftime put Detroit in front, 15-14, and the Titans (0-2) maintained the upper hand through the midway point, when they led by a 28-25 count. Syracuse shot 22 percent in the first half, including just 2 of 17 from 3-point range.

The Orange (3-0) opened the second half with a 15-4 surge — capped by seven straight points from Jardine — to pull ahead by eight. After Detroit countered with a 10-2 run of its own to get within two, Syracuse reeled off nine consecutive points to go ahead, 53-42, with 8:23 to go.

Eli Holman and Jason Calliste scored 17 and 16 points, respectively, for Detroit.
