Arizona State forward Savon Goodman scored 23 points, and guard Tra Holder put back a missed free throw for the winning points, as the Sun Devils beat Creighton 79-77 in Omaha, Neb., on Wednesday night.

Creighton forward Cole Huff missed a 3-point attempt from straight-away at the buzzer.

Huff missed two free-throw attempts with 6.3 seconds left, trailing by one. ASU forward Willie Atwood made the second of two free throws with 5.6 seconds to go for the final margin before the Bluejays dashed down court for the final shot.

ASU (5-2) gave first-year coach Bobby Hurley a win in his first true road game.

Creighton (5-2) had been 89-0 at home when scoring at least 75 points.

Goodman did his work in the paint, making 10 of 13 shots with seven rebounds. He missed a free throw with 18.9 seconds left, but Holder crashed and put up a shot that resulted in a goaltending call for a 78-77 lead.

Creighton center Geoffrey Groselle had 15 points and nine rebounds, both team highs. Guard Isaiah Zierden made four 3-pointers en route to 14 points. Forward Toby Hegner also made four 3s to account for his 12 points.

Arizona State, which trailed by nine in the first half, took its first lead at 56-54 with 13:48 left. After that, neither team had more than a four-point lead.

Atwood added 14 points for ASU.
