SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- No matter how far below their own lofty standards the San Antonio Spurs seem to be playing, a night against the Sacramento Kings usually makes everything better.

The pattern was no different on Wednesday.

The Spurs, unhappy with a defense that showed leaks in three games since the All-Star break, clamped down in their usual manner, and five San Antonio players scored in double digits during a 108-92 victory over the Kings at Sleep Train Arena.

Guard Tony Parker led the balanced effort with 23 points, and the Spurs dominated over the game's final 16 minutes to win for the third straight time. Just as important, they got back to looking like the team that has made defense a staple during a nearly two-decade run of excellence.

San Antonio held the Kings to just 40.6 percent shooting from the field and blitzed them with a 25-7 run that bridged the third and fourth quarters. The 92 points marked the fewest the Spurs have allowed since a 106-90 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 5, and the first time the Kings were held below the century total since a 112-97 loss at Portland on Jan. 26.

"That was a huge focus for us, the transition defense," Parker said. "I think we can do it a lot better, but it sets up everything for us, especially against this team. They can score a lot of points."

Lately, the Spurs (48-9) were allowing a lot of points to opponents. San Antonio, allowing a league-best 92.7 points per contest, surrendered an average of 109.7 per contest in their first three games out of the break. Sacramento, averaging 107.1 points per contest, third in the league, had at least 100 points in its previous 11 contests.

However, the Kings managed just 14 in the second quarter while falling behind 49-38 at halftime. Then, after rallying to take a brief one-point lead in the third quarter, they were held to 31 points over the final 16:36 and saw their three-game winning streak end.

"They capitalized off our missed shots," Kings guard Rajon Rondo said. "That's what they do. We missed a lot of layups in the first half and had 30 shots on the rim. You have to give them credit, but a lot of it was us."

Center DeMarcus Cousins scored all but one of his team-high 22 points in the second half and also grabbed 10 rebounds for the Kings (24-32). However, he was 0-for-10 from the field in the first half, and he is 13-for-43 in two games against San Antonio this season.

Parker made 11 of 17 shots from the field and added six assists for the Spurs. Forward Kawhi Leonard returned from a two-game absence caused by a strained calf and scored 18 points.

"It didn't feel good at all," Leonard said of his rhythm. "My teammates did a great down of driving and kicking the ball out to get me some open shots. The rhythm will come."

The Spurs took off after a Cousins dunk tied the game 61-61 with 4:35 left in the third quarter. San Antonio guard Patty Mills knocked down a 3-pointer to unlock the tie and start a 15-9 run to end the third quarter.

Parker and forward Kyle Anderson then opened the fourth quarter by knocking down jumpers, and San Antonio scored 13 of the first 15 points in the final 12 minutes to put the contest away.

Anderson finished with 14 points and made seven of eight shots for San Antonio, which won despite not receiving a point from center Tim Duncan, who played only 12 minutes.

"He really has a good sense of the game," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said of Anderson. "He makes good decisions, he's a good passer and really wants to be a good player."

Guard Darren Collison and forward Quincy Acy scored 15 points apiece for Sacramento, which has lost five straight to the Spurs. Rondo added 18 assists to go with seven points, the 18th time this season he totaled at least 15 helpers. He needs one more game with at least 10 to tie Reggie Theus for the most 10-assist games in a season in Sacramento history.

NOTES: With F Kawhi Leonard back for San Antonio, second-year F Kyle Anderson returned to the Spurs' bench after a career-best three consecutive starts.
