MILWAUKEE -- Kristaps Porzingis had 14 in his NBA debut as the New York Knicks opened the 2015-16 season with a 122-97 rout of the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Porzingis, a 7-foot-3 native of Latvia, was booed on draft night when the Knicks selected him with the fourth overall pick but he sank three of his nine attempts from the field -- including a 3-pointer -- and knocked down nine of 12 free-throw attempts while grabbing five rebounds and also added an assist, block and steal in 20 minutes.

The Knicks also got 24 off the bench from forward Derrick Williams, who went 8-for-17 from the floor and added seven rebounds in 21 minutes.

Forward Carmelo Anthony was 3-for-13 from the field and missed four of five 3-point attempts to finish with eight points for the Knicks, who shot 45 percent and made 9 of 23 3-pointers.

Milwaukee was one of the biggest surprises in the league last season, when the Bucks jumped from 15 to 41 victories and pushed the Bulls to six games in a first-round playoff series.

But with shooting guard O.J. Mayo battling a sore hamstring, forward Giannis Antetokoumnpo serving a one-game suspension and forward Jabari Parker still not ready after last year's ACL inury, Bucks head coach Jason Kidd's makeshift lineup struggled to find the basket all night and shot 35 percent from the field while hitting 9 of 18 from beyond the arc.

Point guard Michael Carter-Williams finished with 20 points but missed 11 of 17 shots while shooting guard Khris Middleton went 4-of-15 but hit three 3-pointers to finish with 11.

Center Greg Monroe, signed to a three-year, $50 million deal during the summer, led the Bucks with 22 points to go along with 14 rebounds, four assists and a pair of blocks.

Milwaukee led by seven early in the first quarter, but the Knicks closed the period on an 8-0 run and led by as many as 16 before going into the break up, 63-51.
