NEW ORLEANS -- Guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson and forward Draymond Green combined for 86 points to power the Golden State Warriors to a 109-98 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night at the Smoothie King Center, completing a first-round playoff sweep of their best-of-seven series.

After hitting the miracle 3-pointer from the left corner to pave the way for a dramatic victory over the Pelicans on Thursday, Curry scored 27 of his game-high 39 points in the first three quarters as the Warriors built an 88-67 lead.

Thompson scored 25 points and Green added 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors, who advanced to play the winner of the Memphis-Portland series in the second round.

The Pelicans, led by Anthony Davis' 36 points, made one final push, scoring the nine points of the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 88-76 with 10:04 left. When guard Eric Gordon, who finished with 29 points, nailed a 3-pointer from the left wing with 6:01 left, the Pelicans were within 95-85.

But after a timeout, Curry made a 15-foot shot over Davis, Thompson hit a mid-range jumper and Golden State was up 99-85. New Orleans pulled within 101-94 on a driving layup by Davis but could get no closer.

After leading 67-54 at halftime, the Warriors used a 16-2 run to ice the series sweep. Curry scored seven points in the run and Thompson had five, including a 28-foot jumper that barely rustled the net, to put Golden State up 85-62.

Curry (14) and Green (13) combined for 27 of Golden State's 31 first-quarter points and teamed up to make 5 of 7 from long range. Green scored 10 of the Warriors' first 13 points, which included two 3-pointers.

Repeating a theme in the series of closing out quarters efficiently, Golden State used a 10-2 run in the final 3:31 to take a 31-24 lead.

Davis kept the Pelicans within reach with a focused effort on both ends, scoring 11 points and grabbing five rebounds in the first quarter, and Gordon added eight points. But Golden State consistently hurt the Pelicans after missed baskets, scoring 14 fast-break points in the first 17 minutes.

Curry and Green wound up with 20 points each in the first half as Warriors extended their lead to 67-54. Thompson, held to two points in the first quarter, exploded for 13 second-quarter points to add to the Warriors' offensive mix.

Curry, Thompson and Green made 9 of 12 from long range in the first half.

Davis and Gordon scored 19 points each for New Orleans in the first half, but the Pelicans could not slow down the Warriors' fast break, allowing an 18-0 edge.

The Warriors also continued their mastery of the boards, collecting five offensive rebounds in the second quarter. On one possession, the Pelicans blocked two consecutive shots under the basket only to have Thompson bury a 3-pointer from the left baseline.

NOTES: As a shooting guard for the Chicago Bulls, Golden State coach Steve Kerr played on teams that frequently won the first three games of a playoff series, but he admitted he was nervous going into Game 4 against the Pelicans. "We're right where we want to be, but you never feel comfortable as a coach," Kerr said. "I felt a lot more comfortable as a player. As a coach, you're always on edge." ... The Warriors outrebounded the Pelicans 147-133 in their first three victories, including a 46-34 edge on the offensive glass. They had 10 offensive boards in the 39-19 fourth quarter of Game 3 that wiped out the Pelicans' 20-point lead. ... New Orleans coach Monty Williams said no matter what happened in Game 4, he liked his team's resilience. "If you've followed this team at all this year, you know we've had tough losses, back-breaking losses, and our guys have come back every time," he said. "Our guys have never run from any kind of challenge."
