Nets 114, Raptors 109:
Deron Williams collected season-high 31 points and 11 assists as streaking Brooklyn held off visiting Toronto.

Brook Lopez added 30 points and 17 rebounds for the Nets, who have won six straight to pull one game ahead of Miami in the race for the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference. Thaddeus Young tied a season high with 29 points on 12-of-15 shooting and Joe Johnson scored 13 for Brooklyn.

DeMar DeRozan recorded 27 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for the Raptors, who dropped one game behind Chicago in the race for the No. 3 spot. Lou Williams scored 23 points off the bench and Jonas Valanciunas added 21 points and nine boards for Toronto.

Lou Williams buried a 3-pointer with 1:40 left to put the Raptors up 105-104 and DeRozan restored the one-point lead on the next possession before Deron Williams connected from beyond the arc to give the Nets a 109-107 edge. DeRozan tied it with a corner jumper but Young’s putback gave the lead back to Brooklyn with 22.2 seconds left and DeRozan’s floater came up short before Johnson put Toronto away at the line.

The Nets held a 10-point lead late in the first quarter and were up 45-40 before the Raptors finished the second quarter with a 14-4 burst to take a five-point advantage into the break. Toronto held a 71-62 lead after Valanciunas’ three-point play just past the midway point of the third but Deron Williams buried a pair of 3-pointers and Lopez scored six points as Brooklyn cut it to 79-77 heading to the fourth.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Raptors F Amir Johnson left in the third quarter with a sprained ankle and did not return, finishing with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting. … Toronto PG Kyle Lowry (back spasms) sat out his fifth straight game. … The Nets had two players with at least 30 points for the first time since a 127-122 overtime loss to the Raptors on Jan. 30.
