76ers 99, Nuggets 85: Robert Covington buried six 3-pointers and scored 20 of his 25 points in the second half as visiting Philadelphia took over down the stretch to down Denver.

Nerlens Noel collected 14 points, 15 rebounds, four blocks and four steals as the 76ers snapped a 16-game road losing streak. Isaiah Canaan added 15 points for Philadelphia, which outscored the Nuggets 27-9 in the fourth quarter.

Ty Lawson recorded 19 points and six assists to lead Denver, which fell for the fourth time in five games. Wilson Chandler contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds while Jameer Nelson scored 12 off the bench.

Covington’s 3-pointer with 4:09 left put the 76ers up 84-81 and Isaiah Canaan followed Nelson’s putback with another from beyond the arc to make it an 87-83 cushion. Hollis Thompson’s 3-pointer with 1:55 to play pushed it to 90-83 and Noel’s steal and basket with 1:07 left provided the dagger as Philadelphia put it away.

The 76ers held a nine-point lead midway through the second quarter but settled for a 49-46 edge at the half. Covington knocked down three 3-pointers in the first 3:08 of the third quarter to help put Philadelphia up 60-53 and scored 15 in the period but the Nuggets scored the final seven points to go into the fourth on top 76-72.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Nuggets F Danilo Gallinari followed up his career-high 40 points at Orlando on Sunday by scoring eight points on 3-of-10 shooting. … Covington is 15-of-26 from 3-point range over the last four games. … Denver shot 34.5 percent from the field with only F J.J. Hickson (3-of-6) reaching 50 percent among individuals.
