Russell Westbrook had 36 points, 11 rebounds and six assists as Oklahoma City outlasted visiting Chicago.

Enes Kanter contributed 18 points and a season-best 18 rebounds as the Thunder moved into eighth place in the Western Conference by one game over the New Orleans Pelicans. Steven Adams added 14 points and 11 rebounds as Oklahoma City won its second straight contest.

Nikola Mirotic scored 17 of his 27 points in the final quarter for the Bulls, who have lost five of their last six games. Pau Gasol had 20 points and eight rebounds and Joakim Noah added 15 points and seven assists for Chicago, which is one game ahead of fifth-place Washington in the Eastern Conference.

D.J. Augustin made a tiebreaking 3-pointer with five minutes remaining to push Oklahoma City ahead and Westbrook raced to the hoop 45 seconds later to make it 94-90 and later stole the ball from Mirotic and drove the length of the court for a basket to make it 99-95 with 1:12 to play. Anthony Morrow drained a 3-pointer to increase the lead to seven and the Bulls were unable to get closer than five in the final minute.

After the teams were a combined 13-of-53 from the field in the first quarter, both teams shot over 60 percent in the second quarter and the score was tied at 47 at the break. Westbrook scored 12 points in the third quarter and the Thunder closed with an 11-5 burst to take a 75-70 lead into the final stanza.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Westbrook had three of his six assists in the fourth quarter while failing to record his ninth triple-double of the season. … Mirotic hit all nine of his free-throw attempts. … Kanter had nine of Oklahoma City’s 17 offensive rebounds as the Thunder posted a 52-33 edge on the boards.
