Warriors 105, Pistons 98: Klay Thompson came up big in the fourth quarter and finished with 27 points as host Golden State turned away slumping Detroit.

Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala each collected 13 points and seven rebounds while Marreese Speights scored 12 for the Warriors, who moved 6 1/2 games clear of the Memphis Grizzlies in the race for the top record in the Western Conference. Stephen Curry struggled to nine points on 4-of-15 shooting but added 11 assists as Golden State improved to 28-2 at home.

Andre Drummond recorded 22 points and a career-high 27 rebounds as the Pistons suffered their eighth straight loss. Greg Monroe contributed 20 points and nine boards while Reggie Jackson had 14 points and nine assists for Detroit.

Thompson scored 10 points in a decisive 18-2 run that put the Warriors in front 97-83 with 4:39 to play. The Pistons countered with five straight points but Green converted a three-point play and Iguodala turned a pair of steals into two straight dunks as Golden State put Detroit away.

The Warriors led by as many as 13 in the second quarter and went into the break up 56-51 but needed an 11-5 burst to go into the fourth up 79-76. The Pistons knotted it on Jodie Meeks’ 3-pointer to start the final period and were up 81-79 after Monroe’s free throws with 9:26 to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Thompson became the 28th player in franchise history to reach 5,000 points when he scored in the first quarter. … Curry has hit a 3-pointer in 55 straight games – the second-longest streak of his career and the longest active streak in the NBA. … Drummond’s 13 third-quarter rebounds were the most against Golden State in any period this season, and his nine 20-rebound performances are the most in the league.
