Cavaliers 127, Mavericks 94: LeBron James scored 27 points while becoming Cleveland's all-time leader in assists in an easy win at Dallas.

Kyrie Irving had 22 points and Kevin Love finished with 21 and 14 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who snapped a five-game losing streak against the Mavericks. J.R. Smith hit 5-of-8 3-pointers en route to 21 points as Cleveland pulled 1 1/2 games ahead of Chicago for the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

Chandler Parsons paced Dallas with 18 points while Monta Ellis added 17. Amar'e Stoudemire chipped in 15 points off the bench and Dirk Nowitzki had 13 for the Mavericks, who fell behind San Antonio and into seventh place in the West.

James, who finished with eight assists, surpassed Mark Price's franchise mark of 4,206 with a pass to James Jones for a 3-pointer early in the second quarter and added a basket moments later that gave Cleveland the lead for good. Smith made two 3-pointers just before halftime as the Cavaliers hit 8-of-13 from 3-point range to go into the locker room up 67-53.

Timofey Mozgov had four of his 17 points in a 9-0 run that pushed the lead to 91-68 late in the third and James opened the fourth with a 3-pointer for a 102-76 advantage. James, Love and Iman Shumpert each hit a 3 in a short span to make it 111-87 with eight minutes left, and Cleveland cruised from there.

GAME NOTEBOOK: There was a halftime tribute for Cavaliers F Shawn Marion, who spent five seasons in Dallas and helped the Mavericks win the 2011 NBA title. ... Mavericks SF Al-Farouq Aminu left the game with a shoulder injury. ... Dallas PG Devin Harris scored seven points in 21 minutes after missing two games with a hand injury.
