Grizzlies 97, Pacers 89: Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph combined for 20 of their 42 points in the decisive third quarter as Memphis topped host Indiana.

Randolph finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds and Gasol scored 20 on 9-of-16 shooting for the Grizzlies (2-0), who snapped a three-game skid in road openers two days after snapping a 13-game losing streak on opening nights. Mike Conley had 17 points and four assists for Memphis, which turned the ball over just nine times.

Chris Copeland scored 16 points off the bench and C.J. Miles added 13 for the Pacers (1-1), who played without starters George Hill (knee) and David West (ankle) in addition to reserve C.J. Watson (foot) and All-Star Paul George. Pacers 7-2 center Roy Hibbert was totally outplayed by the Grizzlies bigs, tallying just eight points and eight rebounds.

Memphis got a combined 22 points from Randolph (nine), Conley (eight) and Gasol (five) during a 26-2 run in just over seven minutes that turned a 13-point deficit into a 74-63 lead with 2:24 to play in the third. The Pacers moved within 88-80 with just over four minutes left before Gasol knocked down a short hook and Conley a 3-pointer from the left wing to provide some cushion.

Each team had an 11-point lead at one point in the first half, but three shots from beyond the arc by rookie Damjan Rudez in the second helped Indiana to a 53-45 lead at the half. The Pacers pushed the edge to 61-48 just three minutes into the second half on a short banker by Hibbert.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Randolph posted his second straight double-double this season after registering 47 last season - fourth most in the league. … Grizzlies SG Courtney Lee left the game late in the first half with a mild concussion after getting kneed in the head by Hibbert when he was lying on the ground after a shot attempt. … The Grizzlies bench was outscored 49-21 after the reserves were outscored 46-10 by Minnesota in the opener.
