Victor Oladipo contributed 19 points and Willie Green chipped in 13 off the bench for the Magic, who improved to 2-2 since coach Jacque Vaughn was fired. Elfrid Payton had 12 points and four assists while Dewayne Dedmon blocked six shots before fouling out for Orlando.

Jason Smith scored a season-high 25 points to go along with seven rebounds for the Knicks, who were without All-Star Carmelo Anthony (knee). Smith made a jumper followed by 1-of-2 free throws to tie the game at 75 before Oladipo and Payton each drained two from the line and Vucevic scored in the lane for an 81-75 lead with 3:16 to go. Vucevic capped the run with a basket and nailed another jumper with 1:14 left for an 85-77 edge to give the Magic the cushion they needed.

New York led by four early in the third quarter and had a one-point bulge before Orlando ran off seven of the last nine – five by Green – to take a 64-60 lead into the fourth.
