Trail Blazers 108, Suns 87: Nicolas Batum scored 20 points and LaMarcus Aldridge added 19 points and 13 rebounds as host Portland knocked off Phoenix.

Wesley Matthews had 14 points and eight rebounds and Damian Lillard scored 13 points for the Trail Blazers, who won their second straight contest after a stretch in which they lost eight of 10. Robin Lopez added 11 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots for Portland, which used a 57-42 rebounding edge to overcome a 8-of-31 effort from 3-point range.

Markieff Morris had 18 points and eight rebounds as the Suns shot 38.6 percent from the field while losing their third straight contest. Eric Bledsoe added 17 points and seven rebounds but committed six of Phoenix’s 16 turnovers.

Batum hit a 3-pointer and set up Meyers Leonard for a layup on the next possession to give the Trail Blazers an 88-75 lead with 5:34 left. Three straight baskets by Aldridge pushed the advantage to 100-81 as Portland pull away by scoring 42 final-quarter points on 15-of-22 shooting.

The Trail Blazers opened up a 34-15 lead early in the second quarter and held the Suns to 32.6 percent shooting in the half while taking a 46-35 lead into the break. Phoenix rallied in the third quarter to briefly hold a one-point lead on Bledsoe’s layup with 1:20 left in the quarter before Portland took a 66-65 edge into the final stanza.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Aldridge notched his 220th career double-double, breaking a tie with Sidney Wicks for most in franchise history. … Suns C Alex Len departed in the third quarter due to a right ankle injury. … Lillard missed all five of his 3-point attempts and is 2-of-30 over the past four games.
