Trail Blazers 105, Hornets 97: Wesley Matthews set season highs with 28 points and six 3-point baskets as visiting Portland defeated Charlotte for its ninth straight victory.

Damian Lillard contributed 22 points and seven assists and the Trail Blazers recovered from an 11-point halftime deficit. Robin Lopez had 15 points and 10 rebounds while LaMarcus Aldridge matched his season best of 14 rebounds but struggled to nine points on 3-of-18 shooting.

Brian Roberts scored a season-high 24 points and Al Jefferson had 21 points and a season-high 14 rebounds for the Hornets, who lost their seventh consecutive game. Kemba Walker had 15 points and nine assists and Gerald Henderson scored 15 points.

The Hornets were within five points after a 3-pointer by P.J. Hairston with 9:38 to play before Lillard scored seven straight points, including two 3-pointers, and Chris Kaman made a jumper to make it 96-82 with 6:47 to play. Walker drained a 3-pointer to bring Charlotte within 102-93 with three minutes left but Matthews put the game away with his sixth 3-pointer with 1:09 to go.

Roberts scored 15 first-half points on 6-of-7 shooting as the Hornets led 56-45 at the break. Charlotte’s advantage was 13 early in the third quarter before Portland finally tied it at 69 with 4:41 remaining and eventually led by seven before settling for a 79-76 lead entering the fourth quarter.
