Magic 97, Knicks 95: Evan Fournier poured in a career-high 28 points, including three free throws in the final minute, and added four steals as visiting Orlando handed New York its sixth consecutive defeat.
Nikola Vucevic contributed 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Magic, who shot 57.1 percent in the first half and ended a two-game slide. Tobias Harris chipped in with 12 points and Channing Frye added nine for Orlando, which won on the road for only the third time in the calendar year.
Carmelo Anthony scored 27 points on 10-of-17 from the field, including a 3-pointer that pulled the Knicks within 96-95 before Fournier made 1-of-2 free throws. J.R. Smith registered a season-high 19 points in his 700th NBA game while Iman Shumpert and Jason Smith added 10 apiece for New York, which has not scored 100 in a game this season.
Vucevic scored inside, Luke Ridnour made 1-of-2 free throws and Fournier scored on a goaltending call to give Orlando an 89-85 edge with 4:26 left. The Knicks pulled within two, but Frye made a big fall-away jumper in the lane with one minute to go and the Magic held on as J.R. Smith's long 3-pointer at the buzzer was wide left.
Fournier recorded 15 points in the first quarter and Harris scored 10 in the final 2:04 of the second as Orlando built a 56-50 lead at intermission. The Magic led by as much as 10 in the third before Anthony capped a 16-4 run with a pair of jumpers and New York ended up taking a two-point lead into the fourth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Orlando had lost eight straight against the Knicks before winning the last two. … New York SG Tim Hardaway Jr. did not play in the first half before scoring two points in 18 minutes during the second. … Magic F Andrew Nicholson had eight points off the bench after not playing a minute in the last five games.
