Bulls 98, Magic 90: Jimmy Butler recorded a team-high 21 points to go along with nine rebounds as host Chicago pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat winless Orlando.

Pau Gasol contributed 16 points and 13 rebounds while Taj Gibson scored 16 as the Bulls won for the eighth time in the last nine games against the Magic. Aaron Brooks chipped in 13 points and Doug McDermott had 12 off the bench for Chicago, which finished the game on a 23-13 run.

Tobias Harris led the way with 21 points while Nikola Vucevic added 19 points and 13 rebounds for Orlando, which lost its fourth straight to start the season. Evan Fournier registered 13 points and rookie Elfrid Payton had seven assists for the Magic, who missed six of 14 free throws.

Nikola Mirotic drained a pair of 3-pointers during a 12-2 run as the Bulls took their biggest lead of the game at 87-79 with 6:37 left. Orlando trimmed the deficit to 89-86 on Harris' jumper, but Brooks connected on a 3-pointer and Butler followed with a basket off an inbounds play as Chicago edged away.

Orlando led by as many as eight in the first half before Butler, McDermott and Gasol combined for 39 points to help the Bulls edge in front 54-52 at intermission. Kirk Hinrich and Brooks each hit 3-pointers during an 8-2 run as Chicago led by five in the third quarter, but Ben Gordon’s late basket tied the game 69-69 going into the fourth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Chicago G Derrick Rose (ankle) missed his second straight game and C Joakim Noah (illness) was held out for his first time this season. … Orlando F Kyle O’Quinn missed his third consecutive game with an ankle injury. … The Bulls blocked nine shots, led by three from the 6-0 Brooks.
