Al Jefferson collected 20 points - including the basket to force overtime - and 18 rebounds for the Bobcats, who pulled into a sixth-place tie with Washington but secured the tiebreaker by winning the season series 3-1. Gary Neal added 16 points off the bench and Gerald Henderson made all three of his 3-pointers en route to 13 points.

Marcin Gortat scored 27 points and hauled in 14 rebounds while John Wall recorded his third career triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the Wizards. Trevor Booker added 16 points for Washington, which rallied from 20 points down before being held to one point in the extra session.

Gortat's basket with 9.9 seconds left in regulation put the Wizards up 87-85 but Jefferson scored on a pick-and-roll with Walker on the other end to tie it with 3.2 seconds remaining. Neither team scored in overtime until Walker buried a 3-pointer with 2:59 to go and both he and Jefferson made two free throws down the stretch while Washington went cold.

Neal scored the final four points of the first quarter for the Bobcats as they grabbed a 32-18 lead, and Henderson's 3-pointer midway through the second made it 50-30. Washington crawled to within 13 points at halftime and opened the third period on a 14-2 run to trim the deficit to one point, setting up a tight stretch run.
