Mavericks 107, Lakers 95: Dirk Nowitzki scored 27 points on 11-of-14 shooting and Brandan Wright made all 10 of his shots while scoring a season-high 23 points as visiting Dallas notched a crucial victory over Los Angeles.

Shawn Marion added 15 points and eight rebounds and Samuel Dalembert contributed 14 points and 14 rebounds as the Mavericks remained in seventh place in the Western Conference, a half-game ahead of both Memphis and Phoenix. Jose Calderon added 11 points for Dallas while Nowitzki (26,678) moved into 11th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list, passing Dominique Wilkins (26,668).

Jodie Meeks scored 25 points for the Lakers, who lost their third straight game. Jordan Hill had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Nick Young also scored 14 points.

Dallas led by four points entering the fourth quarter and scored the first nine of the period, the last seven coming from Wright. Another basket by Wright made it 99-84 midway through the quarter and the Lakers never got closer than 10 down the stretch.

Los Angeles rattled off 10 straight points in the second quarter to overcome an eight-point deficit and led 54-52 at the break. The Mavericks used a 10-2 burst in the third to take a five-point lead and took an 82-78 advantage into the final stanza.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles PG Steve Nash played 19 minutes and had four points and seven assists. … Nowitzki also had nine rebounds and five assists and Dallas possessed a 52-38 edge on the boards. … Lakers C Pau Gasol (vertigo) sat out for the sixth time in seven games.
