Jazz 107, Timberwolves 100: Al Jefferson matched his career high with 40 points on 19-of-27 shooting and also had 13 rebounds and six assists as Utah notched its seventh consecutive home win over Minnesota.

Randy Foye had 16 points and made five 3-pointers and Mo Williams also scored 16 for the Jazz, who shot 58.3 percent from the field and remained one game behind the eighth-place Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference playoff race. Utah holds the tiebreaker edge in case of a tie.

J.J. Barea scored 23 points to lead the Timberwolves, who fell to 0-3 against the Jazz this season. Ricky Rubio added 13 points and Chase Budinger scored 12.

The Timberwolves had a 98-97 lead with 3:51 to play after back-to-back 3-pointers by Rubio. Jefferson hit the go-ahead basket 17 seconds later and added another hoop with 39.3 seconds left as part of a game-ending 10-2 run.

Barea scored 19 first-half points as Minnesota led 54-53 at the break. The Timberwolves led by six late in the third quarter before Utah rallied to take an 82-81 lead entering the fourth and increased the advantage to 97-90 on Jefferson’s basket with 5:18 remaining.
