Warriors 105, Timberwolves 89: Klay Thompson scored 25 of his 30 points in the first half and Golden State pulled away after the break to down visiting Minnesota and clinch its first playoff berth since 2006-07.

Stephen Curry added 24 points and Harrison Barnes (15 and 10 rebounds) and David Lee (15 and 12) each recorded a double-double as the Warriors maintained their one-game lead over the Houston Rockets for the No. 6 spot in the Western Conference.

Chase Budinger scored 17 points off the bench and Andrei Kirilenko had 15 for the Timberwolves, who fell for the second time in five games this month.

Thompson had 25 points before anyone else on Golden State even had five as Lee and Curry struggled to find a rhythm early. Thompson’s outburst kept the Warriors in the game and Lee and Barnes combined on a 5-0 burst to close the second quarter and send Golden State into the break up 55-54.

Curry went 3-for-11 from the field in the first half but got hot in the third quarter with 13 points as the Warriors began to pull away. He had seven points during a 19-4 run that gave Golden State a 78-64 edge.

The lead swelled to 16 points heading into the fourth quarter and the Warriors never let the lead sink under double digits in the final frame.

Point guard Ricky Rubio went 0-for-10 from the field and Minnesota shot 36.7 percent as a team.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Barnes’ double-double was his fourth this season and first since Nov. 24 against the Timberwolves. … Thompson’s fifth 3-pointer in the first half gave him 200 on the season. He and Curry are the second duo to each reach 200 in a season. … Andrew Bogut added 14 rebounds for the Warriors, who dominated the glass 60-44. … Minnesota F Kevin Love, who has been out most of the season with a broken hand, will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee to remove scar tissue, eliminating any small hope that he would return this season.
