Bulls 95, Bucks 87: Pau Gasol scored a career-high high 46 points and grabbed 18 rebounds as host Chicago beat Milwaukee to snap a two-game skid.
Gasol finished 17-of-30 from the floor — the rest of the team was 18-of-58 — to match LeBron James' NBA season high for field goals and made 12-of-13 free throws as Chicago beat Milwaukee for the fifth straight time. Kirk Hinrich added 16 points and Jimmy Butler had nine points, a career-high 10 assists and eight rebounds for the Bulls, who were without point guard Derrick Rose (left knee soreness) and forward Mike Dunleavy (injured right ankle).
Brandon Knight scored 20 points and Jared Dudley added 15 off the bench for the Bucks, who had a five-game road winning streak halted. O.J. Mayo added 12 points and Khris Middleton contributed 11 for Milwaukee, which was 3-for-11 from 3-point range.
Gasol alone outscored the Bucks 20-19 in the first quarter as the Bulls opened up a 10-point advantage after one period. Gasol and Chicago cooled off in the second quarter, but Milwaukee couldn't make much of a dent and the Bulls led 48-39 at the break.
The Bucks briefly took the lead on back-to-back buckets from Middleton early in the third quarter, but Chicago answered with a 10-0 run to go up 60-51 and never trailed again. Milwaukee cut it to 73-69 on a Mayo 3-pointer with 9:27 left, but the Bulls rattled off six quick points and didn't let the margin dip below eight the rest of the way.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Gasol matched New York F Carmelo Anthony for the highest-scoring output in the NBA this season and became the first Bulls player with at least 40 points and 15 rebounds in a game since Michael Jordan in 1989. … Chicago SF Tony Snell made his first start of the season, the 11th different starter for the Bulls. … Milwaukee PF Kenyon Martin, playing his second game since signing a 10-day contract, suffered a chest contusion and did not play in the second half.
