Kyle Schwarber belted a two-run homer in the seventh inning to break a streak of 15 1/3 scoreless innings against New York pitching and led the Philadelphia Phillies to a 4-1 victory over the host Mets on Saturday night.
Schwarber's home run, his fifth, came on a 2-1 pitch off reliever Adam Ottavino (1-1). It scored J.T. Realmuto, who had drawn a one-out walk. Alec Bohm then walked, stole second and advanced to third on catcher James McCann's throwing error. He scored on Odubel Herrera's two-out double for a 3-1 lead.
Rhys Hoskins added a solo homer, his second, off Sean Reid-Foley leading off the eighth inning. That gave the Phillies a 4-1 lead.
Reid-Foley left the game later in the inning due to an injury.
James Norwood (1-0) worked a perfect sixth inning for his first MLB win in 35 career appearances.
Ex-Met Jeurys Familia made his first appearance in the Mets' stadium as a visiting player. He pitched a scoreless inning but then was pulled with two on and two out in the eighth.
Corey Knebel walked pinch-hitter J.D. Davis but retired Brandon Nimmo on a grounder to second. Knebel threw a scoreless ninth for his fourth save.
Veteran New York right-hander Taijuan Walker, making only his second start of the season after missing the last 18 days because of shoulder bursitis, allowed two hits in five scoreless innings. He wasn't involved in the decision.
The Mets took a 1-0 lead in the fifth.
Nimmo drew a one-out walk and Starling Marte hit a comebacker to Phillies starter Kyle Gibson. But his throw to second to start a potential double play sailed into center field for a throwing error, putting runners at first and third.
Francisco Lindor followed with a ground ball to first baseman Hoskins. But his throw home was late and Nimmo, running on contact, slid home headfirst ahead of the tag for a 1-0 New York lead.
Gibson walked Pete Alonso to load the bases. Jose Alvarado relieved and struck out both Eduardo Escobar and Jeff McNeil to prevent further damage.
Gibson was charged with an unearned run on two hits and five walks in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out three.
The Mets stranded 13 baserunners.
