Reds 3, Diamondbacks 2: Bronson Arroyo tossed six solid innings and snapped a tie with a solo home run as visiting Cincinnati handed rookie Tyler Skaggs his first major-league loss.
Arroyo (11-7) held Arizona to two runs and five hits while walking one and striking out three. He positioned himself for his fourth straight victory and seventh in eight starts by hitting a 3-2 offering from Skaggs over the left-field wall with two outs in the sixth.
Initially awarded a double, Arroyo was credited with his sixth career homer when video review showed the ball hit a railing in the stands instead of the yellow line at the top of the wall before bouncing back onto the field.
Sean Marshall and Jonathan Broxton each tossed a perfect inning before Aroldis Chapman worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his 32nd save in 36 chances.
Brandon Phillips went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the National League Central-leading Reds, who remained six games ahead of St. Louis.
Skaggs (1-1) allowed three runs - two earned - and five hits in 5 2/3 frames. The 21-year-old, who beat Miami in his major-league debut Wednesday, walked two and struck out five.
Justin Upton homered and added an RBI single for Arizona, which fell to 2-6 on its 10-game homestand. Upton's 11th blast in the second inning extended his home hitting streak to 20 games.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Diamondbacks RHP Matt Lindstrom was in uniform a day after being acquired from the Baltimore Orioles for LHP Joe Saunders. ... Cincinnati 1B Joey Votto (left knee) is scheduled to begin a two-game rehab assignment with Class-A Dayton on Tuesday. ...
